Flatback-Mandolin The Flatback Mandolin „Folk“ with rims and a flat back is a perfect instrument for folk, blues and jazz. It is a strong, warm and open sounding instrument. The soundboard is of spruce and the body can be made of either Indian rosewood or maple. The neck is of mahogany and the fingerboard of ebony. The tuning machines and the tailpiece are nickel-plated. (There are presently no photographs of the „Folk“.) The „custom“ is the corresponding master instrument. Its openness and clarity in tone makes it ideal for the soloist and for accompaniment playing. Much care has been taken in selecting the tone wood, in tuning the braces, and in the workmanship toward aesthetic details. The soundboard is made of exquisite German spruce and the back and rims can be made in either rosewood or curly maple. This mandolin is characterized by its superior voice and very quick response. Warmth is combined with definition and balance. The ebony fingerboard has 24 frets and the tuning machines and tailpiece are gold-plated. |
